Dance or just listen to traditional jazz music
If you love traditional or swing style jazz, then you should go along to The Jazz Club of WA on a Tuesday night. Held at the Yokine Bowling Club, you can experience jazz in a intimate but not crowded setting.
A different band performs each night, playing traditional jazz melodies. You are encouraged to dance along or just sit and enjoy the music.
This club has been going for 32 years, with the last 8 years being held at the current venue. Previously they used to meet at the Hyde Park Hotel, until the ownership changed hands.
There is a large following of regular members attending but non members are welcome to come along. The large dance floor is well used by couples.
Though local bands mainly play here, the occasional international guest has played here. Previously Marilyn Keller, an African Amercian gospel singer performed at the club. The club will have the Swedish Jazz Kings, as the next international act to perform in October this year.
A bar is onsite with drink prices below pub prices. Food is also available from the set menu.
You also receive a free cheese platter per table, as part of your entry fee. A raffle is held with prizes ranging from wine bottles to CD's or books.
Entry is $10 for members and non members are $15 entry. Membership is only $20 for the year and entitles you to discount entry fee at Fremantle Jazz Club.
Doors open at 7.30pm and runs until 10.30pm.
