Perth's freshest jazz festival 'Jazz By The Beach' is taking over Scarborough's favourite venues on the weekend of 14 & 15 August.
Music lovers can expect a cultural and lively experience with a sensational line up of world-class musicians, including Ali Bodycoat, Catherine Summers, Russell Holms, Lucky Oceans, Juliana Areias, Howie Morgan, Steven Hensby, Freddie Grigson, Holly Scott, roving band Junkadelic and more.
Jazz By The Beach Festival was born from the inspiration of English born, Perth-based performer Catherine Summers after the devasting series of show cancellations that hit the Perth entertainment scene and with the folding of the South West's winter 'Jazz By the Bay' Festival which helped so many performers during the quieter 'winter months'.
"It is my hope that I hope that this beachfront event will attract all kinds of people from all surrounding suburbs and further afield to enjoy the New Orleans buzz with jazz spilling onto the streets," said Catherine Summers.
Catherine Summers herself has become a performer of choice in the Perth Jazz music scene over the last few years selling out gigs throughout WA, interstate and overseas - a homegrown treasure in her own right and is now battling to brighten people's lives and boost an otherwise flattened event industry!
"I'm thrilled and honoured to perform alongside the fantastic talent we have in this first year and it's great to have such iconic beachfront Oceanview venues involved, such as The Sandbar, The Scarborough Beach Bar, Zoie, The Surf Life Saving Club and more all giving people both a world-class jazz music experience and a world-class ocean beachfront view."
The exciting weekend program includes ticketed and FREE events with something for every jazz lover! Highlights include the chance to enjoy 'Gin and Jazz Legends' at The Scarborough Beach Bar. Or indulge in brunch and coffees as jazz-funk trios take-overs at Livid Skate or 'Oceanview Jazz Lunch' at Zoie.
There is also the chance to catch bigger bands like 'Roaring 20s Beans Burma Boys Jazz High Tea' at The Rendezvous Jazz High Tea or indulge in an 'Evening of Elegance with Catherine Summers' for a 6-piece swinging band concert at The Scarborough Beach Surf Club that's being transformed into 'The Diamond Lounge' for the festival!
Some of Scarborough's most iconic, ocean-view venues have partnered with some of Perth's most iconic artists for the festival so you can enjoy both a world-class jazz-music experience and a world-class ocean beachfront view.
As we continue to live in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jazz By The Beach is planning a festival that is prepared to accommodate the changing nature of venue restrictions to ensure that the show goes on.
