My hip friends from Mount Lawley are finally willing to leave their "hood" and come out to Victoria Park - what I define to be the best food stretch of Perth (in terms of variety).
Well, I was ever eager to impress my friends. We started taking a gander down the start of Albany Highway and spied a couple of new cafes along the corner of Leonard Street. There was a Chinese one and there was Jayusigan, which is Korean. My friend wanted Korean, so we went with that.
We were seated pretty quickly, since its not a big spot. The menu looked new and really pretty. We were hopeful that the food will be good, as I spied quite a good number of Koreans in the cafe. It should be authentic. Why else would there be so many Koreans in there? And there was K-pop music. I personally think that Jayusigan is "keeping it real".
So the happy 3 friends ordered food. I ordered a spicy marinated pork dish, while my 2 friends ordered a chicken cutlet and marinated chicken dish. All the dishes we ordered came with rice.
The serving time was decent, within 10 minutes. I must say I was impressed by the sauce that my pork came with. Unfortunately, the pork did smell pretty porky despite the strong marinate that it sat in. My 2 friends were not impressed by their dishes either. One rated her food at a 6 or 7 out of 10. But strangely to Jayusigan's defence, she said "its still good though".
The food does need some improvement, but hey... everything else is pretty good.
