Perth entertainer Jay Weston is to appear live in concert at the Cottesloe Civic Centre in Broome Street Cottesloe on Sunday August 19th 2012 from 3:00pm.

Jay Weston, a tenor, is a rare talent and is probably one of Perth's best kept secrets, his repertoire is vast to say the least and the way he sings is absolutely amazing.

Jay began to play keyboard at ten years of age and by the time he turned thirteen was awarded a musical scholarship at Perth Modern School. He went on to continue his musical studies at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, completing a Bachelor of Music (Classical), followed by a further year of study in Queensland, where he was awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Opera Performance and he achieved an Academic Award of Excellence from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

My first experience of Jays outstanding voice was when I listened to a promo CD he gave me when I was looking for an entertainer to perform at my wedding. I loaded the CD into my car stereo not knowing what to expect. The first song that played was Hallelujah, I did not need to hear anymore. Jay's version of Leonard Cohen's classic Hallelujah, is hands down the best I have ever listened too. I was so moved by his voice that morning, I was late for work, as I played it over a number of times in disbelief.

I saw him perform a few weeks ago at Leapfrogs Cafe on a cold winter's night, his music I believe was responsible for so many people braving the cold to stop and listen, when he sang Hallelujah on this occasion everyone in the room was spellbound and it was the topic of conversation for many that night.

The venue for the August 19 concert should be somewhat warmer, and what an amazing venue for him to perform at, the Cottesloe Civic Centre hall has been finished in magnificent jarrah wood; it is simply stunning and I for one cannot wait to hear Jay sing at such a wonderful and intimate venue.

The concert will commence at 3:00pm and there will be afternoon tea provided, tickets are $20.00 Adults, $15.00 Concession and are available from Jan Greer of Aria Entertainment. You can contact Jan at [email protected] or phone her on 0402 149 887 for more information, tickets will also be sold at the door, should there be any left.
