Two great local musicians,
Jay Hoad and
Chris Finnen are teaming together to perform a variety of music, which blends soulful blues, African, rock, funk, reggae, Latin and Celtic music at
The Groove Garden Café from 2.00pm on Sunday, 23rd February 2014.
Over the last seven years Jay Hoad has been inspired by the music and cultures while touring the world performing his music in the Caribbean, South East Asia, India, Fiji and the United States. He was honoured with the opportunity to support Bob Marley's "The Wailers" on their East Coast of America tour. This tour then led to an invitation for Jay to perform at the Saarang World Cultural Festival in India. For further details check out
Jay Hoad Review.
Chris Finnen is one of the most respected blues guitarists in Adelaide and Australia and has been an inspiration to generations of local musicians. In August 2013, he was officially recognised and inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in New York. Chris was presented with his award by John Earl Walker in a ceremony in the Barossa Valley.
Over the last year, Samra Teague, owner and manager, of The Groove Garden Café, has established her venue as the ideal space where guest musicians can perform and local musicians can come and play a few songs during an open mike segment. It opens from 12.00pm until 7.00pm. The liquor licence closes at 6.00pm.
If you are not familiar with The Groove Garden Café, it is located in the grounds of
The Singing Gallery 133 Main Road, McLaren Vale on the Fleurieu Peninsula. This former Congregational Church was transformed into a music centre, The Singing Gallery, where musical concerts are performed with local, interstate and overseas performers. This unique performance area also provides spiritual and healing workshops, markets, live theatre, weddings and festivals.
If you love blues and music that fuses various genres and is played with lively and entertaining spontaneity, then come along to see and hear Jay Hoad and Chris Finnen perform. In the words of your Hostess, Samra, "Phil Milte Hai" (See you soon).
