Java is a bright, clean and simple cafe in Mentone on Florence Street, not far from the train station. Open planned with wooden floors, there's a nice feel to this place. They're pretty popular – I was lucky to snare a seat last Sunday afternoon.
When I visited, service was quick and friendly, but you do need to order from the front counter and take a number to your seat.
My coffee was strong but not bitter, and they certainly didn't skimp on the chocolate powder.
My sources inform me that Java's iced-coffees are not bad either.
Java serve standard cafe food, like sandwiches, slices and cakes, but they also have some neat specials, like tomato and fetta bruschetta, and chicken and mushroom cannelloni.
