"It's a corker of a show, with broad appeal." (Sydney Morning Herald)
The theatrical version of Jasper Jones, a classic Australian coming-of-age mystery, opens at QPAC's Playhouse Theatre on 28 July 2018 after selling out across Sydney and Melbourne.
The story is set in 1965 and involves a 14-year-old boy, Charlie Bucktin, who escapes from boredom and bullying in the tiny Australian bush town of Corrigan by reading about mystery adventures, only to find himself amidst a real one. A teenage girl has died. Jasper Jones, the young Aboriginal boy living on the margins of the town, comes across the murder crime scene near the town dam. Jasper calls on Charlie to assist him to solve the murder and, at the same time, to clear Jasper's name from suspicion.
The cast includes Ian Bliss, Shaka Cook, Nicholas Denton, Rachel Gordon, Hayden Spencer, Hoa Xuande and Melanie Zanetti. Sam Strong directs Kate Mulvany's adaptation of the novel by Craig Silvey. Sam's productions of Jasper Jones were acclaimed interstate and now it's Brisbane's turn to enjoy this stellar production. Tickets start from $56, book at queenslandtheatre.com.au.
