Just a girl spreading the word about all the fun (and probably nerdy) things to do!

Not quite the Chamber of Secrets, but just as magical
If you're looking for a day escape with the kids, consider going to the Jenolan Caves. The caves are beautiful and each cave has its own tour and tour guide to tell you the stories about how the caves were created, as well as the stories based off the shapes formed over the years into the rocks.

It is usually easiest to drive the Jenolan Caves and luckily there is free parking, however there is no fuel resources available there so be sure to fill up your take at Mount Victoria, Lithgow or Oberon.

The website itself has more detailed information on access to the caves, including routes from different capital cities and coaches available.

The 'Broken Column' in the Lucas Cave

For the regular tour timetable click here, and for prices click here.

The caves are a fairly long trip from the city, so it's a good place to go for a family day out. Just make sure your kids are very aware of the no touch rule, as the caves are very old and delicate.
A crystal formation in the Diamond Cave

There are so many caves it's impossible to have enough time to see them all in one day, so if you wish you can stay at the Jenolan Caves accommodation, for prices and information click here.

The Paganini Duo
Even though the caves are the main event there are also other events that occur, such as the upcoming Cello virtuoso by George Mertens on the 16th of March. There's also the Paganini Duo on Saturday the 23rd of March, who specialise in Gypsy music and will be playing in the Cathedral Chamber of the Lucas Cave.

The caves are child friendly, full of beautiful and natural formations and are a good way to have a whole day family event.
