Lose yourself in the literary works of Jane Austen
The Jane Austen Festival will be held again at Albert Hall and commemorate 200 years since the publication of her acclaimed novel Northanger Abbey. The festival also gives history enthusiasts an opportunity to come together and celebrate everything Georgian, Regency & Early Victorian. The event will run for an entire weekend from Thursday the 11th of April to Sunday the 14th April.
A number of activities will be held during the event, including ball-preparation dance workshops each morning, afternoon symposiums, and historic sewing/craft courses. There will also be a number of costumed events including period functions on Friday (Georgian Pleasure Evening), Saturday (Jane Austen Regency Ball), and Sunday evening (Waverley Ball) as well as a costumed picnic on the Sunday. In addition, there will be the historic trade fair on the Friday and the Saturday of the festival.
Most people who attend the Jane Austen Festival do so in period costumes, but costumes are optional for those attending. The festival will have a small selection of costumes available for hire before the event.
So come along and celebrate Jane Austen and her first novel over a fabulous weekend of costumes, workshops, stalls and of course Balls!
