The Jane Austen Festival is held at the historic Albert Hall in Yarralumla. The festival began in 2008 and attracts Jane Austen and Napoleonic fans from all over Australia to enjoy all things Regency. The three day/ four night event includes dancing, music, food, games, archery, sewing, fencing, theatre, promenades, grand balls, talks, workshops, costumes and more!

Festival-goers are encouraged to dress up in Regency style attire such as empire-line dresses for women and trousers with long sleeved shirts and waistcoats for men. For evening events, dressing up in ball gowns and suits is encouraged to fit in with the period dancing. If you don't have these clothing items at home, you can hire them in Canberra or look under "Dress Shop" on their website to buy vintage and replica fashions.

If you love Jane Austen novels, this event will be the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded fans and immerse yourself in the pomp and ceremony of the English upper class way of life in the 1800's.

You may even meet your own Mr. Darcy.
