Be inspired to cook exciting meals from scratch

After successful visits to various West Australian locations including Edith Cowan University's Joondalup and South West (Bunbury) campuses, Jamie's Ministry of Food West Australian Mobile Kitchen is coming to Edith Cowan University's Mount Lawley Campus for the first time!

The program is delivered by The Good Foundation and supported by Edith Cowan University as part of a three-year partnership which provides funding to support the delivery of the program throughout Western Australia.

Bookings are open now for the NEW 7-week Home Cooking Course commencing on Wednesday 27th of September 2017.

An innovative, community-based cooking program, the 7-week cooking course in Mount Lawley is based on Jamie's beliefs about cooking and the associated impact on healthy living. The program teaches the fundamentals of home cooking with Jamie's hints and tips, in an effort to encourage people to cook from scratch with fresh food.

Research shows only 1 in 10 of Western Australian residents eat the recommended daily serves of fruit and vegetables and two-thirds of WA adults are now overweight or obese. Following on from this, about one-quarter of all deaths in Australia are the result of diet-related disease and one in four people in Australia are currently overweight or obese.

ECU Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Partnerships) Professor Cobie Rudd said, "With its numerous cafes and restaurants, Mount Lawley is already renowned for being a 'foodies' district. The Jamie's Ministry of Food program will bring and additional focus on providing course participants with added skills and confidence to create healthy, nutritious and exciting meals using fresh ingredients."

While in Mount Lawley, Jamie's Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen will deliver hands-on basic cooking classes led by a team of dedicated Food Trainers who will be supported by local volunteers.

The courses are taught in a fun, social and relaxed atmosphere, designed for all skill levels and anyone aged 12 years and over is welcome to take part. Each week, you will learn how to cook simple, healthy and tasty meals using fresh ingredients, building upon skills learnt from the previous lesson.

Jamie's Ministry of Food Mobile Kitchen will be located at ECU Mount Lawley Campus: Car Park 1, 2 Bradford St, Mount Lawley WA 6050.

Day, evening and weekend classes begin on Wednesday 27th of September, 2017 with one 90 minute class per week, for 7 weeks.

Each class has a maximum of 12 participants and is completely hands-on so you get to see, smell, feel and taste everything that you cook!

Classes cost $20 per session ($140 total course cost), $15 for student card holders ($105 total course cost) and $10 for concession ($170 total course cost).

Bookings can be made via jamiesministryoffood.com.au
