Jamie's is no longer the new kid on the block but has still managed to keep its exciting new novelty reputation going, with queues for meals being up to an hour! I went for lunch around 2pm on a Thursday and only had to wait 20 minutes.
However this was probably the shortest wait of our experience as our food took a good 25 minutes to arrive and then another 15 minutes for our two puddings, considering the place was only half full I expected a little more speedy service from them! Especially after visiting multiple branches in the UK and being so impressed.
The waiter however made the wait much more bearable with his brilliant knowledge of everything on the menu and all the specials as well as giving advice from his own experiences, which is always good to know they eat the food too!
With such an extensive menu (Kids options available too!) it was quite hard to decide what to have but we ended up choosing the special of the day New Zealand scallops and the Land and Sea risotto. Both of which were cleaned up in under 5 minutes!
With these meal options there are two prices which indicated an entrée size and a main size portion. However I have always opted for the smaller size, especially if having dessert (highly recommend the brownie with amaretto ice cream).
However for those who have a hearty appetite or are foodies like me, they have a great Christmas offer on at the moment of 4 courses for $60, which looked so tempting but I didn't feel hungry enough at the time to indulge in or appreciate it. Though I shall be returning on a very empty stomach to try this out.
Some of the tables were a little close together, which for some people may be slightly uncomfortable, especially if on a date the setting was a bit too cosy with the neighbours!
To finish we had two coffees which were surprisingly very nice as restaurants can often slip in standards here within the hot beverages department but they were good. Topped off with a rather surprisingly good value bill turning up it made the overall experience worth while and shall definitely be returning. This meal was for my aunt's Christmas present and as a student (who has a strict budget) I was very satisfied I got my money's worth, especially after looking across at a very happy and full aunt!
