During our first visit to Jamie's Italian , we ended up ordering only pasta dishes. This time round, we decided to give their meat dishes a try. To our delight, the dishes we chose tasted as good as their pasta dishes. There were only one, at most two dishes for each type of meat on the menu. All the dishes sounded so delicious that it was difficult to settle on a single choice.

Their Chicken Milanese had a crisp golden brown coating which was stuffed with prosciutto and provolone cheese to give it a delectable savoury flavour. The topping of black truffle gave the dish its distinctive flavour and a fried egg with a runny yolk completed the dish.

Jamie's Grilled Pork Chop had a very eye-catching presentation, with the pork crackling and pork chop propped up against each other on the plate. The pork crackling could be a bit tough for some tastes but the pork chop was cooked just right. Served with the pork was a small salad consisting of parsley bagna cauda, apple, lemon and kohlrabi which had a refreshing taste and crisp texture.

A choice ideal for vegetarians, the Sicilian Spiced Eggplant consisted of half a roasted eggplant topped with a lentil and tomato ragu, garlic yogurt dressing, pine nuts, rocket and pomegranate. The eggplant had the right amount of bite to it, with its flavour enhanced by the tomato ragu. The garlic yogurt added a hint of sharpness, the pine nuts gave the dish a bit of crunch and the pomegranate provided a burst of flavour in your mouth.

Although we thought the steak in their Italian Steak and Fries tasted a bit ordinary, it was still cooked to the requested doneness and the serving of coleslaw made from purple cabbage complemented the steak well with its slightly bitter flavour. The most enjoyable part of the dish was the fries, with the Italian herbs sprinkled over it making it so scrumptious that you want to keep eating them.

For a chicken dish that is a bit healthier than Chicken Milanese, Gennaro's Chicken Primavera is a good choice. The chicken had the char-grilled flavour that we expected from being grilled and the hazelnut and basil pesto enhanced its flavour without overwhelming it. A scattering of spinach leaves over the chicken gave the dish a fresh appearance. This dish tasted way better that its look.

To keep our hunger at bay while awaiting the main dishes, we ordered a serving of their Ultimate Garlic Bread. This entree clearly deserved its name. The bread was soft and fluffy, and the garlic butter spread had a moreish flavour coming from the combination of garlic and rosemary. The portion size of the dish was sufficient for sharing with fellow diners.

The restaurant was as busy as on our last visit, so booking ahead is highly advised to avoid disappointment.
