An award-winning musical partnership
Tom Thum, a name that frankly reeks of pseudonym, is a remarkable man, he plays every known electrical instrument plus a whole hell of a lot of traditional instruments.
However he didn't feel like humping them around so he learned to condense them all into one - his voice. When actors speak of 'their instrument' they mean their voice, but few have as versatile one as Tom.
He gave a Ted Talk in Sydney in 2013 showing off his talents that has become the most viewed Ted Talk ever with more than five and half million viewings. The talk can be viewed here.
Jamie MacDowell is an Australian professional singer/songwriter, who has sold out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and many others as well as in theatres and basement bars throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
Armed with an acoustic guitar Jamie performs original songs. His ability to improvise mean that no two of his shows are the same.
When these two singular talents come together they make a unique whole, bigger than their individual skills. A sample may be found on their YouTube channel here which also showcases their wit and charm.
Jamie MacDowell and TomThum will be appearing at Fringe World in the Circus Theatre, Fringe Central, Perth Cultural Centre James Street, Northbridge from January the 20th to the 27th at 9:45pm.
Tickets cost from $28 and are available from the Fringe World website here.
