Taking in the View at Jamberoo

When you find that you are bored to tears, your children are tearing your house apart or your friends seem like they need some serious energy out, it sounds like the perfect day for Jamberoo Action Park.

Boasting a whole day full of action packed fun for any age group Jamberoo action park is a great destination just under two hours south of Sydney, just past Wollongong.

Appropriate for any age I took my three and six year old daughters and my fifty year old uncle... We all had a ball.

Entering the park we were greeted by a huge wave pool that is surrounded by deck chairs for the laize fair patron. Bringing a packed lunch we found a spot on the grass and set up camp. There are lockers for valuables and plenty of food vendors for the least organised of us who have a craving for hot chips, coffee and sandwiches.

Starting off with the Rapid River we injected our backsides into the large inflated donuts and took a leisurely cruise while deciding what to do next. We would do this several times in the day, while letting lunch settle, while waiting for funnel web riders to return, while sleeping and any other reason we could think of.

Even my three year old loved racing with us down the several water slides that cater for smaller people, and there was more activities to keep her occupied while the rest of us took off for the more daring adventures such as the Taipan and my personal favourite and much advertised 'Funnel Web'.

The Funnel Web deserves a paragraph of its own. After a mediocre line up (can I say, I've been to Disneyland several times so my view is somewhat a-skewed) we got into a kind of four ringed donut. Heads up the heavier you are the higher you go, so try for more people. Holding on tight we were pushed down a black tube. Waterslides in total darkness are all the more thrilling. Back and forth down the tube you shoot until you hit a surprise free fall into the 'Funnel Web' (a large funnel shape design) where you travel up one side and then the other until you drop through the bottom into another tunnel and pool... Awesome.

Everyone was happy children and more mature beings (who turned out to be not so mature). I'm giving major props to my six year old who with no coaxing jumped off the five metre high 'Rock' into the five metre deep pool.

Complete with ice cream on exit we had an awesome time.

Jamberoo Action park is open 10am-5pm September to April including public holidays (excl 25th Dec). Admission prices and further details can be found on their website.
