Relax into a tub chair patterned with travel stamps beside the 'Black Boy' bushes to enjoy a fine Jamaican coffee in a friendly atmosphere. Red Arum Lilies and tropical landscape murals help create a sense of the outdoors and you may be seated looking out to the horizon. Take your time to achieve the goal of recharging your energies in the moment, the general meaning of 'wan wan cocoa ful baskit'.
From the Blue Mountains of Jamaica,
jamaicablue offers three exclusive varieties of some of the finest coffees in the world. Choose from their Signature Blend, Organic Fairtrade Blend or Wellenford Estate Mountain Coffee. jamaicablue won first place in the 2014 Barista Championship.
Hazelnut, vanilla or caramel shots can be applied to chilled lattes as well as hot coffees. For chilled health try a fruit smoothie with subtle flavours. Sweets include fat scones, muffins and banana splits; no gluten free. There was a low gluten breakfast crepe of eggs, bacon, tomato and shallots. Other breakfast offerings were muesli, eggs benedict, corn fritters or pancakes with berry or bacon and maple.
Lunch fare included Quinoa and Sweet Potato for $14.50, Almond and Sesame Chicken Schnitzel Turkish and Lamb Salad for $16.90. The generous serving of chips with aioli were crispy and delicious for $8.90.
Slogans dot the café such as 'Coffee and friends, a perfect blend' which is the order of the day, plus a changing blackboard message. A Jamaican proverb dresses up the napkins with the mysterious message 'Ebry mickle mekia muckle' which apparently translates as 'Every little bit adds up to a lot'. This adage was appropriate to the atmosphere, décor and bill of fare. If you fancy a little shopping there's also drinkware, accessories and coffee beans.
Saturday afternoons entertain with live music from 12-3pm, plus 'buy one get one free hot drink'.
