North Queensland's modern dining experience
I am always on the lookout for a great place to eat and love exploring new places. Last weekend I was visiting friends in Townsville and was introduced to the Jam Corner restaurant.

Jam Corner restaurant is located at the corner of Palmer Street and Dean Street, which is very close to the city centre and a number of hotels in Townsville. This makes it ideal for those visiting Townsville and looking for a place to eat.

Walking into the Jam Corner, we were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. They set a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Inside the restaurant, there is cosy seating which can accommodate a romantic dinner for two to a large group party. The outside terrace also is a good place to sit in al fresco style.
We sat outside, where you get a good view of the CBD and overlooking the river. It would be great at night.

Relaxed yet refined dining

The lunchtime menu offered small and large size plates as well as a luncheon special that included a glass of wine or beer in the price.

Lunch menu

The menu was a blend of modern North Queensland cuisine with a definite Asian theme. There was many fresh local produce on offer. They also had a separate menu for vegetarians.

Over a glass of wine from their extensive wine list, my good friend and I choose our meals. I ordered the Asparagus, goat's cheese, caramelised onion tartlet with a seasonal salad. ($20).

My friend ordered the Bento which included samples of their specialities including Duck and Chicken Thai Roll, Tempura Prawns, Calamari and Wontons each with their aromatic sauces ($24)

Our meal was thoroughly enjoyed as we caught up after not seeing each other for many years. This lead to us being the last customers to leave around 3pm but we were made welcome to take our time and never felt like we had to be rushed out the door.

Relaxed views

Our experience here at Jam Corner restaurant was very relaxed and yet we felt that we were eating at a fine dining restaurant down south. We would definitely come back again to try their interesting breakfast or dinner menu.
