Jackson's Motor Inn is situated at 373 Glen Osmond Rd, Glen Osmond SA, just below the intersection leading to the M1 Freeway. It is situated conveniently for city explorations and drives up into the spectacular Adelaide Hills.
The building itself is older, but the business is under new management. Staff are friendly and obliging. They are also happy to answer questions. Our party arrived early and were surprised to be able to access the room already at 12:30. The next day, late checkout at 11:00 allowed for a relaxed morning.
As I mentioned, the building is older. The room I was in even featured a "ceiling rose", which is a traditional plaster moulding only found on vintage ceilings. A modern round fluorescent light had been cleverly installed in the centre of this traditional feature.
The rooms were equipped with small microwaves, which allowed us to bring some food back to the room and reheat it. We forgot to ask at reception for plates and cutlery however, so had to eat off the saucer which came with the tea-cup and cut the cake with a teaspoon... but that was very amusing.
The outdoor pool area is not as large and romantic as the pictures in the advertisement might indicate. These photos have been taken at lucky angles - however, as I had booked a spa room for myself I was very happy.
The spa was actually a triangle spa set into the private bathroom next to the room! I was surprised to see that the room was provided with a shower as well (separate, not over the spa).
The hotel is clearly used a lot by travellers, but for Adelaide locals desiring a "mini-break", it is just far enough out of the CBD and exotic enough to qualify!
