In conjunction with Autism Queensland , Jackson Road Shopping Village is holding a family fun day in conjunction with Oktoberfest on the Sunday 25th October from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair). Held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, it is a 16-day folk festival running from mid or late September to the first weekend in October, with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. As a multi-culture Nation, Australia along with many other countries Worldwide now join in the enthusiasm in this important part of German celebrations with their own festivities each October.



What is Autism? Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects each person differently which can make defining the condition a little difficult for parents in the first instant. People with ASD find it difficult to interact socially and communicate with others. They often have difficulty in understanding what other people are feeling and may say the wrong thing causing upsets. They may not be able to make eye contact and perhaps not smile, however they have the same emotions as anybody else and love to have friends even if it's hard. People with ASD like things to happen in the same way i.e. routines, routes to school and shops, line up of their toys in a particular order etc. They can also have an amazing memory for detail and may be extremely knowledgeable about their special interests. There will be plenty of entertainment for everyone with delicious food and drinks, live entertainment, raffles, balloon sculpturing, jumping castle, petting zoo, face painting and more. This is a great opportunity for the whole family to enjoy a day out. You can even purchase your weekly groceries, hassle free while the kids enjoy the fun.
