When I first saw the trailers for Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa - I was excited. I pictured in my mind Borat meets Jackass; I thought it was going to be epic.
You first met Irving Zisman (Knoxville) after he has just found out he has lost his wife and he notifies the doctor's waiting room full of real life people.
Billy (Jackson Nicoll) enters Irving's life when his daughter is sent back to jail on drug charges.
Billy's mother comes up with the idea, that Irving can take Billy out to live with his father. His father is your stereotypical dead beat father, who only accepts Billy for the government checks.
This idea was unveiled at Irving's late wife's funeral, where he accidentally knock over the coffin, shocking the guests.
I believe both Knoxville and Nicoll did a great job of portraying their characters, but the storyline really let this movie down.
I found the story really hard to follow. The movie seemed to be bouncing from one gag scene to the next, not really bridging the gaps.
I found a lot of the "gag" scenes were building, but did not quite get there. Don't get me wrong, I did find some scenes quite funny, but the majority of it was cringe worthy.
By the end of the movie, I was sitting on the edge of my seat, getting ready to run as soon as the credits appeared. Seeing an old man constantly getting rejected by the opposite sex tends to get a bit tiring after 92 minutes.
Overall I do not think I will be watching this movie again, but I will be waiting to see what the Jackass boys will do next.
