Perth Theatre Company (PTC) will present a special return season of the much-loved, critically-acclaimed,
It's Dark Outside.
It's Dark Outside explores Alzheimer's/dementia, an illness close to home for many people. As of 2010, there are an estimated 35.6 million people living with dementia worldwide.
The play will be returning direct from Edinburgh Fringe Festival to the Studio Underground for a brief season of five performances from September 12 to 14.
Using puppetry, animation and live performance, as well as original music by Rachael Dease, the award-winning team Arielle Gray, Chris Isaacs and Tim Watts deliver a grand epic western about dementia and redemption.
As the sun sets, an old man goes wandering into the wild. He is losing his mind. Swept up in a surreal world, he is on the run. Meanwhile, a mysterious tracker has caught the scent, and is hell bent on hunting him down. But while he can try and run away from the life he once knew, he can't hide from everything.
"
It's Dark Outside is an exquisite theatrical experience, and the September season is a opportunity to see this beautiful work for the first time or to revisit it once more. It's a piece you can see with friends, loved ones and family, and it's something you'll remember for a long time to come.", said PTC Artistic Director Melissa Cantwell of the return season.
The play has won huge critical acclaim after a sell out season premiere and fantastic audience feedback. The play featured in Australia's most prestigious international arts festival, The 2013 Sydney Festival where it received four-star reviews and won the prestigious ArtsHub Critic's Choice Award.
