Sunny Bank is a well-known place for Asian food that has been reviewed a few times by the Weekend Notes team. If you decided to check it out one day, don't miss iThai Restaurant – a Thai food restaurant located in Sunny Bank Market Square to the left of the Seven Eleven mart.
It is quite small, hole-in-the-wall type of venue, but is highly recognized by Thai food fans of all backgrounds and ages. The atmosphere is vibrant and lovely, especially when it gets busy in the evenings and weekends. It is nice to take one of the tables in the open-air area and watch people passing by. The interior is not much of a Thai traditional style, though neat and tidy.
Friendly waiters welcome you at the door and serve quickly. Menu offers a varied choice of more than 60 meals, from not spicy to tongue-burning flavours. Photos and pepper icons next to each item help to make a right choice, but if in doubt, ask a helpful waiter. Most of meals come with vegetables and their own sauces.
If you are a vegetarian/vegan, there are plenty of stir fried vegetables options. The prices are pretty competitive – around $13 for a main meal and the serve is generous. After you have made an order, it is fun to watch the process of cooking through the big kitchen window. It is a BYO venue with a standard range of beverages available, including different types of green tea.
Don't go here, I went to I Thai and the food really disgusting. Just because you can speak Thai it doesn't mean you can cook Thai food!. Taste like shit. They say it's vegetarian but the use the same knife to cut meat and vegetables. The open kitchen allows you to see everthing. This is not real thai food.
