4WD or SUV vehicles are known as the heaviest cars in the world and offer you high performance that you would love. I would say that it is really very important to know how to drive these 4WD vehicles. Learning the correct method for driving these SUV cars is really important because these cars are not similar to the normal cars. These cars are heavy and it is not easy to drive them. I wanted to learn driving these cars but my dad always used to say that these cars are not for women. Let men handle such cars. But I was very determined and somewhere in my mind I had decided that I will learn driving these 4WD vehicles by hook or by crook.

It took me 2 months to form a proper grip over these SUV vehicles. But I did it. In this post, I would like to discuss with you some important points for improving your 4WD skills.

When driving on the road or in mud or either in snow, move into your 4WD as simple as the vehicle is ready to leave the ground. If you can lock the front hubs, do it. If possible low range is best for the severe conditions. But before you shift to the lower range it is advised to slow down your vehicle to 3mph or stop your vehicle to prevent the gears from grinding.

Make sure that the level of the tires match: If any of the tires mismatch or is creating imbalance in terms of circumference, this will create a problem for you in handling the car. This can even damage your driveline, not only in snow but for all the time. This is applicable for all types of wheel drive vehicles and the 4WD vehicles.

Always take a 2WD when going downhill: Always keep your car on a slow speed while travelling downhill as high speed can cause the front wheels to slide from the momentum and this will cause loss of control. It would be better to shift to the 2WD vehicles rather than using 4WD as your 2WD will do a better job while moving downhill.

Understand what your limitations are: It would be better if you are aware of all the guidelines before you start driving a 4WD. Though these cars offer you safe driving in the snow or mud but you have to be careful when you drive through the slick.

If you keep in mind the above mention points and then drive your SUV, you will never face any problem. Your SUV drive will become more fun than a problem. You will enjoy the drive.
