There is so much bushwalking to do down in Albany, it is a great place to get out and explore. One of my favourite spots is Isthmus Hill, and getting onto the Bald Head walk trail.
The complete walk is about 12.5km and takes all day, you need to plan well for that. But for those not so keen on that, I suggest doing the first 3-4km. It is great for kids with a range of terrrains and the views are breathtaking.
Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, and in summer be aware of snakes - remember they are more scare of you. Take plenty of water and there is not much shelter from the bush so wear hats and sunblock.
A reasonable level of fitness is required for this walk, even if you are just doing the first little bit, because it gets a little steep at the start.
So, if you are in Albany and wanting to take in spectacular harbour views, head out this way. You can easily do a short walk in the morning and then hit up Whale World for lunch in the cafe.
