The very first Islamic art museum in Australia will open to the public from 3 March in Thornbury. Opened Monday to Thursday from 10.00am to 4.00pm and from 10.00am to 9.00pm on Fridays.
It will provide educational and cross-cultural experiences and showcasing the artistic and cultural heritage of Muslims in Australia and in Muslim societies abroad.

There are five permanent gallery spaces and one visiting exhibition space - Islamic Faith, Islamic Contributions to Civilisation, Islamic Art, Islamic Architecture, and Australian Muslim History.
Visitors can explore the museum independently or on a guided tour.
School groups will be able to take part in educational tours with all material and programs in line with the Australian school's curriculum.

2013 Masterchef contestant Samira El Khafir will run the cafe featuring Australian and Middle Eastern cuisine.
Cost to visit the museum will be $12 for adults and $10 concession.
