Enjoy a lovely lineup of FREE Live Online Classes hosted by the City of Glen Eira's Arts and Culture and Soul Stitches. The iSEWlation event is FREE and will run on Saturdays from 3-4pm on 8, 15, 22 and 29 August 2020. Check out the images below for details of classes and the list of materials you will need. Click to enlarge image for a good view. You'll also find details on the event page. Join the sewing class via Facebook live or you can watch the instructional videos (again) later. Jenn the owner of Soul Stitches will be happy to interact and answer your questions. Upload your finished work after each session and share it for others to admire.
You'll be working on practical and homely items with tips and advice on the best construction and recycling techniques to employ. Bring your creative spirit and once you start, you may not want to stop. For full details of the event, see the event page.
On the first Saturday (8 Aug), you'll be making FABRIC POTS. When choosing fabrics think up-cycling and use tea towels, old pieces of clothing, pillowcases and such like. On the 15th you will make your own TOILETRY/MAKEUP PURSE that's fully lined with a zip closure. Again, up-cycle and make it a financially viable event for yourself. Saturday the 22nd; it's going to be a SHOPPER BAG. Let your individuality loose and choose a fabric you're happy to carry around in the form of a bag. Last but not least, the 29th is the CUSHION event. Make your home cosy by making these removable, zippered cushion covers. You could perhaps recycle a favourite old jumper or doona cover for the event.
If you don't have a sewing machine or can't borrow one, you can still watch, learn, and enjoy the event. You could also following along with hand sewing, but of course a machine is a lot faster and easier. These classes are aimed at teens and adult sewers who have basic machine knowledge or are capable hand sewers.
