In the mix of good value breakfasts to kickstart your day is Isabella's in Randwick. I recently discovered the cafe with some friends, and together we took the $7 brekkie menu for a spin. Technically this was for brunch, but same, same. The generous and delicious feeds left us very content.
The smoothies (green and fruity!) were a nice refreshment alongside the rather elaborate meals. If you're into eggs, and you're at Isabella's, you've made an egg-cellent choice. The budget-friendly list incorporates eggs in their various forms. There is your classic sunny-side ups. There is your Eggs Benedict, on a bed of baby spinach, topped with creamy hollandaise sauce, and holding that tasty yolk explosion together. Imagine taking this, and adding a sizeable chicken schnitzel to the dish. Isabella's sure has!
Omelette off the $7 breakfast menu. Featuring caramelised onion goodness.
Also on the list are very flavoursome omelettes. My selection came with the sweet addition of caramelized onions wrapped up in the egg. While the $7 menu features a variety of enticing breakfasts, there is another menu to potentially make your decision tougher. This is where you can find more omelettes with that Isabella's twist. There is also a range of Benedict combinations (salmon, ham, and vegetarian), and sweet breakfasts including French Toast and waffles. Each choice for $8.50 or less.
Extras can be added to any meal for $4.50 and under. In this case, it was extra bacon!
Your wallet will thank you for starting your day at Isabella's. While all brekkie options mentioned are plenty filling in my opinion, there are a couple of options if you are in need of a real 'Hunger Buster'. These are the exceptions from the single-digit price range. Isabella's does 'Big Breakfasts' ($12.50) which have it all - eggs, tomato, hash-brown, sausages and bacon. Think this is all? Not quite. There's also the 'Supreme Breakfast' ($13.50) with all of the above plus a grilled mini steak!
The mouthwatering juices and smoothies are around $4, and they come in jars. Drinks in jars make me uber happy. I've also ear-marked this place for when I want an Italian dinner that'll similarly keep the wallet at ease - dishes around $13. With good food, good portions and good prices it's no wonder there is a constant buzz at this place.
