On Wednesday the 7th of August 2019, Mount Isa CBD will transform into a big community party with 2019 Isa Street Festival. This free event, presented by the Mount Isa City Council, will welcome locals and visitors of any age and there will be something to enjoy for everyone!



Affectionately known as the 'oasis of the outback', Mount Isa is a mining town and the biggest population centre in north-west Queensland. It is 820 km west of Townsville, 160 km from the Northern Territory border and 350 km south of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Nestled among the ochre-red Selwyn Ranges, on the banks of the Leichhardt River, Mount Isa is home to the world's third largest rodeo.





Since 2012, Isa Street Festival has been held on Wednesday evening of Mount Isa Rodeo Week and become a special element to Rodeo Week. The celebration includes a community connect zone, a live open-air concert featuring local performers including a school band, family entertainment, free kids games and activities, street food and market stalls and a licensed beer garden, just to name a few. For rugby fans, you will have the chance to meet and greet the one and only Johnathan Dean Thurston (JT) in person!





One of the most popular acts this year is Rai Thistlethwayte with his band. Rai will bring his love of classic rock, pop and jazz to the Isa Street Festival.





In 2017, Mount Isa City Council introduced a street parade to the Isa Street Festival program, which has become the feature of this event. This year's Isa Street Parade will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Riversleigh Fossil fields' discovery with the theme "Living Fossils". $4000 in prize money to be won and $1000 awarded to best in category for each "School Entry", "Community Entry" "Business Entry" and "Best Themed Entry", is sure to encourage all sectors of the community to enter the parade and do the best dress up in the theme of the year.
