Mount Isa is located in Queensland's vast North West and nestled among the ochre-red Selwyn Ranges on the banks of the Leichhardt River. Mount Isa is a home to one of the most productive single mines and its mining history began in 1923 with the discovery of lead ore by prospector John Campbell Miles.
My eyes caught the big yellow underground machine that was used in the early days of mining in Mount Isa. You can see some displays about John Campbell Miles, the mining industry development and also what the mine produces now.
The Isa Experience also shows you the cultural diversity of Mount Isa, from the quirkiness of daily life in the early days to the biggest rodeo in the southern hemisphere. Situated at Kalkadoon rich land, the Isa experience also exhibits some precious rocks found on the land as well as the Kalkadoon tribe rich culture.
