Set back off the busy Gympie Terrace, Noosa, and up some very steep steps IS Tapas Bar is Noosa's equivalent to a 'hole in the wall'. The atmosphere makes it feel like you've been accepted into a secret club where you are freely available to sample the delights from the menu set out especially for you.
While a little cramped, the restaurant is set out nicely and most weekend nights there is live music. The waitstaff are lovely and do all they can to provide you with a dining experience and the restaurant is fully licensed (which consequently means no BYO).
My friend and I chose three dishes to share: steamed prawn and pork dumplings with sesame and soy, peking duck rolls with shredded vegetables and soy and beef cheek empanadas. While each were lovely in their own way, the duck rolls were divine.
The prices were a little high considering the size of the dishes, and that in order to be well fed, you have to order a few of them, but two of us paid around $60 for three tapas dishes, a Coke and a Royal Jamaican ginger beer.
Fully licensed, they even stock Royal Jamaican ginger beer
While our food was ordered and out to us in quick succession, it is known for being very busy on weekends, so expect to wait a while for your dishes. The truth is though, in an atmosphere like that, a little waiting isn't all that bad.
