Many of us are digging our togs and towels out of the back of the summer wardrobe as the mercury rises, but a dedicated cast and crew of the Northern Light Theatre Company are donning their winter coats and scarves to put on Irving Berlin's classic tale, White Christmas.

You can't help but get songs like 'Blue Skies', 'White Christmas' and 'Sisters' stuck in your head and you'll be toe tapping along with the talented cast and sensational sounds of the orchestra at the Shedley Theatre this October.

White Christmas is set in the 1950's and tells the story of two World War II vets who become partners in a song-and-dance act after the war. A chance encounter entwines their path with a duo of beautiful singing sisters to a gig at a financially struggling Vermont Inn, which happens to be owned by their former army commander General Waverly. Matchmaking, misunderstanding, music and mischief follow as the dancing men and the singing sisters try to save the Inn.

The 1942 film Holiday Inn originally introduced the song "White Christmas" sung by Bing Crosby which according to the Guinness World Records , is still the best-selling single of all time, selling over 50 million copies. Between 1942 and 1947, the master copy was played so much it was damaged and had to be re-recorded. In 1954, the songs of Irving Berlin were featured in the film White Christmas (loosely based around Holiday Inn) which included the song "White Christmas" and many more classics, and on which the stage show is based.

Directed by Sue Pole, The Northern Light Theatre Company production team for White Christmas is completed by Gordon Combes as musical director and Kerreane Sarti with Sue Pole as co-choreographers.

Fresh from performing in 'The Addams Family' (Matt Byrne Media, July 2014), Michael Coumi is playing the role of Bob Wallace in White Christmas. On reflection when considering the show he said "I enjoyed my experience with 'The Addams Family' so much and Sue Pole and Gordon Combes were part of the production team. With Sue Pole as the Director and co-choreographer and Gordon Combes as the Musical Director for 'White Christmas', I knew that it was going to be a great team to work with and I just had to audition for it".

The talented group of performers who contributed to the success of 'The Addams Family' and continue on together into 'White Christmas' include Sophie Hamilton as Betty Haynes, Angus Smith as Phil Davis and Chris Bussey as Martha.

Tia Girgolas, performing as Susan, is the youngest cast member in her first performance with Northern Light Theatre Company but has treaded the boards at the Shedley Theatre before as a dancer, as well as performances at the Star Theatre, Arts Theatre, and Space Theatre at the Festival Centre

A dedicated production team and talented cast come together to produce a polished performance and exceptional night out for all. The experienced cast also includes Russell Ford playing General Waverley, performing in his 9th show with Northern Light and Rebecca Mason as Judy Haynes, in her 8th for Northern Light.

Suitable for all ages, White Christmas is playing at the Shedley Theatre, Playford Civic Centre, Elizabeth from October 10 to 25. Bookings Online at www.northernlight.org.au/tickets or by Phone 8281 5026 (9am–9pm) or 131 246 (anytime)
