What could be better than fresh country air and a plate filled with superfood treats? We discovered that lunch at Ironbark Superfoods Cafe followed by a play in the John Scott Park over the road makes a perfect family day trip within close proximity to Brisbane.

The recently opened Samford cafe is spacious, filled with healthy treats, and thoughtfully designed with children in mind. We sat at shady outdoor tables on the grass, while the kids occupied themselves in the enormous covered sand pit.

The kids guzzled their biodynamic banana smoothies and we enjoyed the Fairtrade Jasper coffee, with buckwheat/date/walnut muffins and a very popular raw tiramisu cake (pictured below). I stood for quite some time drooling over the front counter which had some very tempting looking salads, home made lentil patties, ricotta slices, spelt bagels, orange almond cake and acai berry snacks. You can also purchase a range of organic deli items to take home, such as Absolute Organic Chocolate bars or Living Elixir Ginger Beer.

The Borgen Family are clearly passionate about their food and Joan and her beautiful daughters (Stina and Catherine) serve top quality locally sourced produce in this inspiring culinary adventure. If you are vegan, a supporter of organic food, or are yet to try some real "superfoods", then maybe Ironbark Superfoods Cafe is worth stopping by. There is plenty of street parking available - just look out for the organic cafe sign next to Inline Fitness Club on Samford's main road.
