Before Masterchef, My Kitchen Rules and Ready Steady Cook, there was one show that rose above them all and revolutionised cooking shows: Iron Chef.

For two days only, Iron Chef French, Hiroyuki Sakai, and Iron Chef Chinese, Kenichi Chen, will demonstrate their god like powers in the art of fine dining to a limited audience at the club/city club RACV City Club .

These two celebrity chefs starred on the cult-hit Japanese TV series, where guest chefs would challenge the show's resident Iron Chefs, using a specific themed ingredient, in a timed cook off at Kitchen Stadium.

The French specialist, Iron Chef Hiroyuki Sakai, has appeared on the second seasons of Masterchef as a guest judge and currently holds the esteemed title of 'King of Iron Chefs'; a title he won after emerging victorious from the show's grand finale which saw all the active Iron Chefs battling it all out against each other.

The Chinese cuisine specialist, Iron Chef Kenichi Chen, is the son of the famous Chen Kenmin, the father of Sichuan cuisine in Japan, and also is the longest serving Iron Chef on the series. His signature dish is the critically acclaimed, Chilli Prawns, a dish most likely making an appearance in Melbourne.

The two warriors of cookery will be in Melbourne from Thursday June 16th to Tuesday June 21st. For the Iron Chef Event on the 18th and 19th June, the pair will be joined by the RACV City Club executive chef, Mark Normoyle, and together they will create a six course dinner that would make the gods crave with hunger.

The biggest cooking event of the year will unfortunately not be nice for the money conscious, as the six course dinner will cost $485 per person. However, why not treat yourself to a nice night out and enjoy some great food and wine whilst the Iron Chefs showcase their culinary skills in such epic fashion. For those attending will have the chance to meet the legendary Iron Chefs in person and also have photos taken with the two at the dinner.

Whose cuisine will reign supreme? I have absolutely no idea but why don't you come along and find out for me. This will mark the first time the two Iron Chefs will travel to Melbourne for an Iron Chef Event, so hurry and book now. Witness cooking history in the making as these two Iron Chefs battle it out in Melbourne and demonstrate their extraordinary culinary skills live.
