Event: -
Don't miss the Running of the Sheep
This is an unusual event as the aim of Irish Woolfest Boorowa is to provide a fantastic free street festival for all the family, while promoting the region.

It will be a magical country festival with many unusual activities including children's fun and a boutique market displaying food, wine and quality crafts. It will be held on the long weekend from 28th to 30th September 2018

Here are some of the events you can look forward to if you go to the Irish Woolfest:

The Running of the Sheep
This is the main event and it has been likened to the running of the bulls in Pamplona!

It is considered Boorowa's special woolly version. However, it is not to be compared to the danger of the bulls, as the local sheep are cute and cuddly. Visitors love the sheepdog element when they see the trustworthy kelpies jumping on and off the sheep's backs. This is all the while as they race down the street guided by Farmer Ashley on his four-wheel motorbike.

This is a great chance to view Boorowa's fine Merino sheep up close and personal.

Blesseing of the Fleece
This is an old tradition and a sheep is shorn with old-time shears on the shearing shack. The fleece is then thrown on the stage to receive a spiritual thanksgiving for the quality wool of the district at "The Ecumenical Blessing of the Fleece".

Boorowa is world renowned for its fine wool and this is an important event of the Irish Woolfest.

Ever watched drag racing for dogs? During the Sunday you will see teams compete in a relay race - team against team! The sport of flyball is like drag racing for dogs! Take your average pet dog and put them in a team with fellow doggy friends to run against other doggy mates.

The sport has dogs barking with pleasure, while their handlers and the crowd cheer the dogs on to close racing finishes. When the race finishes, the dogs and their handlers dress up in a theme fashion parade. This is always a good laugh and far better than any Myer spring fashion parade! This will be on from 8 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

The Shearing Shack
Shearers will demonstrate their great skills on the Shearing Shack throughout the day. One of the top shearers will explain the procedures and activities performed by the shearers as they demonstrate these skills.

The Street Parade
After the Running of The Sheep, the main street will be filled with fantastic floats. There will be all sorts of artistic creations done by the local community.

The timeless quality of Celtic music is brought to life by folk-pop trio, SugaTree. Natalie Parker and Ryan Pentland approached musician and producer Yanni Dellaportas to help record some of their songs. Natalie was a music teacher and changing to Celtic tunes has been easy for her. She has a haunting quality to her voice that is ideal for Irish ballads.

This is a Celtic trio who combine foot-tapping guitar with catchy tunes and deep lyrics. SugaTree sing genres of folk, pop and Celtic in their energetic live shows. With a unique, organic sound, SugaTree entertains audiences of all ages and musical interests.

Growers and Boutique Markets
There will be a large variety of homemade sauces, dressings and jams and a variety of delectable tastes to suit all tastes. You will be able to buy fruit cakes and plum puddings like Grandma used to make. Gourmet honey and a range of unusual bee souvenirs will be for sale, as well as a range of olive oils and olive products.

The Pantry on Pudman will be there, and they are a local shop which is well known for its great coffee and wonderful range of gourmet products.

There will be so many items and stalls at this festival, including candles and health products for your body. These will be natural beauty products made to heal and soothe.

There will be local clubs having food stalls including the Historical Society and the Boorowa Lions Club as well as more.

All in all, there will be a great variety of creative stalls and a wide choice of boutique products. From garden products to jewellery, woollen garments and much more, you will love this country market!

St John's Art Show
At this art show, you will see a whole lot of local talent. The official opening will be on Friday 28th at 6.30 pm. This will be a cocktail party with an entry fee of $25. It will be on at the Old Court House Building, and will then be open all weekend till Monday 1st October. times are from 10 am to 5 pm.

There will be a display of fireworks to mark the beginning of the 2018 Irish Woolfest. This will be on Saturday 29th September. The night will start with live entertainment from 6:00 pm featuring Josh Maynard, Gar MacLeman, and Russell Churcher. You can bring some chairs and a picnic and see these fireworks from 8.00 pm. These will be held at the Boorowa Recreation Club, Market Street.

But wait - there's more!
