Are you pumped for the Ipswich Festival?

Well, you should be, because it's back in 2014 from Thursday 24 April to Sunday 11 May.

The Festival is three big weeks of events and exhibitions encompassing music, theatre, art and sport that are innovative and celebrative. There are plenty of things at the Festival suitable for adults and kids alike.

The following pages outline some of the best events; however you should go to their website to check out their full program. There are also heaps of free events so you can enjoy the Festival without breaking the bank.

We all love a good fireworks display and that's why you shouldn't miss Fire on the River on Thursday 24 April. Head to the Riverlink Shopping Centre to see the night sky light up in a kaleidoscope of colours. This Festival favourite is sure to dazzle the whole family.

Celebrating the Bremer River in the heart of Ipswich, Adrift promises to delight visitors. This light feature can be seen during the day, or at night when it lights up the river during the Festival.

Round up the kids bright and early on Sunday 27 April for Creative Kidz Big Day Out. Lots of free workshops and activities are on offer so you'll be spoilt for choice. There's music making, science experiments, sports playing, craft activities and storytelling. Big kids and small kids will have a ball.

Kick start your weekend at Riverheart Parklands at Friday Night River Sessions. Bring a picnic blanket and chill out under the stars to the sounds of local talents from 6pm.

The Ipswich City Mall will be transformed into something wonderful for London Calling - Piccadilly Bazaar on Saturday 3 May. This is your chance to go back in time to the 60s and head to London for a day. With a whole heap of vintage fashion, eccentric collectables, 60s music, arts and crafts, and food, you'll be gald you've made the trip.

Also happening on Saturday 3 May, are the Festival Street Parade and Festival Street Party. Both of these events are major highlights of the Festival so make sure you come and experience the vibrant community.

Conclude your weekend on Sunday 4 May at Queens Park for Jazz, Wine & Blues. Sip on some fine wine, munch on tasty treats and enjoy the bluesy vibe brought to you by talented musicians.

The Global Fiesta is on Saturday 10 May. Go on a trip around the world. You'll love this cultural celebration with food, dancing, workshops and entertainment. Dance your way around the world with Bollywood, African, Hip Hop, Pacific Island and Zumba workshops. Feast your senses on the cultural performances and international foods. With so much on offer here you'll feel like you've just travelled around the world.

Those with kids are in for a treat as the Festival offers a huge range of events suitable for kids.

The Workshops Rail Museum is putting on Fun & Games, an exhibition of toys from the 1900s to current times. It will definitely be interesting to see how toys have changed throughout the years.

Pete the Sheep is a musical comedy that will have the whole family laughing. And for the budding magicians, you'll go home with a few tricks up your sleeve after The Dark Magician Games Party.

There are also painting and ceramic classes which may interest your kids.

Are you scratching your head trying to figure out what to do on Mother's Day? Well, scratch no more and treat your Mum to a special screening of Amélie on Sunday 11 May.

If you have children then don't miss out on Wind Tubes. This interactive exhibition will take your kids on a fun journey discovering the phenomena of moving air.
