Giddy Up! All my racing-fan friends agree that the Ipswich Cup is the racing event of the year to go to and be seen at. Officially it is called the Channel Seven Ipswich Cup but everyone in Ipswich and around Brisbane calls it simply "The Cup". Sure, it's not as grand as the Melbourne Cup but it's ours and we love it. And it's not just a horse race - I have friends who go every year and have no knowledge of horses and take little interest in the races but see it as the great social day it has become. 20,000 racegoers can't be wrong.
The Ipswich Cup was established over 150 years ago. Yes, it's been running (pun intended) since 1866! As well as following the horses, you can also follow the Fashions on the Field. There will be DJs and other performances so you can catch up with friends and fans, and enjoy a whole day's entertainment.
There are many hospitality package options available for you to choose from, to suit all budgets. Perhaps you prefer private and general marquees trackside or the infield festival party. General admission is only $20.00 per person if purchased online in advance, or $25.00 if bought at the gate on the day.
You don't have to worry about driving either if you fancy a tipple or three as a shuttle bus will operate from both the Booval and Bundamba train stations to safely transport racegoers to the Ipswich Turf Club.
