Pay Tribute To Our Troops in a Trip Down Memory Lane
The Ipswich City Orchestra have chosen a special theme for their Proms Concert in 2014. On the eve of ANZAC day, the orchestra will present a concert which pays tribute to our Anzacs in the form of music and song. The program will include stirring music to touch your heart as well as the music which kept spirits going during the war years. Conductor Patrick Burns will be taking us back one hundred years to 1914 when World War One began. You will hear music from the home front and music from the family lounge room, music from the music halls and music which brought people to their feet.
In the tradition of Proms Concerts, you may wish to bring your Aussie Flag to fly as you clap and sing along to the Orchestra as they play. Some of the musical favourites which you can expect to hear will be Colonel Bogey on Parade, Ravel's beautiful Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte, Pomp and Circumstance March no.1 and A Shropshire Lad. Once again there will be local and international guest artists who will join with the Orchestra to bring you a memorable performance.
Concerts for the Ipswich City Orchestra are usually packed out, so it is advisable to book tickets well in advance and arrive nice and early to find a car park, either in the Council Car Park or surrounding streets. You can enjoy a light meal, coffee or drink at the Stars Cafe Bar prior to the concert.
The concert will be at 7:30pm on Thursday 24th April, in the Ipswich Civic Centre. Tickets for this concert which is also the orchestra's 10th Anniversary will cost $40.00 for adults, $35.00 Concessions and a group of 10 or more $30.00. You can purchase tickets by contacting the Ipswich Civic Centre Box Office on 3810 6100 or by visiting their Website.
