It's never too early to begin a cultural education. More and more art galleries around Brisbane are catering to children and the gallery at Ipswich is no exception.

The Ipswich Art Gallery (d'Arcy Doyle Place, Nicholas Street, Ipswich Central) is located forty kilometres west of Brisbane. The gallery is housed in the renovated former Ipswich Town Hall in the heart of the city and presents a rotating roster of art and heritage displays, workshops, family friendly activities and performances to the public.

The Gallery is dedicated to promoting the works of locals and often curates works by Ipswich artists. The Ipswich Artist Register connects local artists with the gallery. Professional and hobbyist creators are encouraged to register online.

The gallery has a designated Children's Gallery that is wheelchair and pram friendly. Volunteers can help visitors to find their way around and will answer any questions that children may have. There are also art workshops and activities for children to participate in and a parent's room located on the ground level of the building.

This venue is also dedicated to the education of its visitors. Patrons can visit the website to learn how to make the most of their trip to the museum or ask for help from volunteers. School groups are provided many opportunities for development.

The Ipswich Art Gallery is open seven days a week, from 10.00am until 5.00pm. Admission is free, excluding a small charge for some temporary shows.
