Enjoy a morning of music and dancing with this free Scottish dance class.
Scottish Country Dancing is a type of social dance that dates back centuries, as a part of Scottish culture and tradition during the Renaissance. Dancers are organised into 'sets' of three or more couples arranged in facing lines, or in squares, and move in a sequence of formations determined by music.
The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society in Melbourne is hosting a special class on Saturday, 11 April 2015. It is open to the public, and completely free, suitable for all ages and skill levels. You can bring a partner along with you, or make new friends on the day — it is a social dance, after all!
Spend a fun two hours learning about reels, including lively jigs and stately strathspeys, set to the tapping rhythms of Scottish music. The class will be all about introducing newcomers to this traditional dance, so there's no need to worry about having two left feet.
The class will be held from 10am to 12pm, at the St James' Uniting Church Hall, on Riversdale Road, Box Hill South. Entry and participation is free.

Royal Scottish Country Dance Society website, or call (03) 9561 4961.
