Gender inequality is a significant issue in many countries. While women perform 66% of work around the world, they only earn 10% of the world's total income and own only 1% of the world's property (via Global Poverty Project).
Intrepid aims to raise awareness of these issues and raise funds for worthy projects through the SAMA project. SAMA means 'equal' in the bahasa language and SAMA supports projects that address inequality for women and girls.
You can support this work by having a fun night out at Intrepids upcoming Winter Gala event. The night will include a live band, plenty to drink and some exciting goods to bid on during live and silent auctions - including an Intrepid trip and flights!

All funds raised on the night will go to the SAMA projects support of Plans Early Education Project in Laos. This project specifically addresses the disadvantage girls, particularly from ethnic minority backgrounds, face when it comes to education, right from the early years.
Three years ago in Laos, preschools did not exist.Through this project, Plan is establishing parenting and community learning groups in up to 45 villages in Laos' Bokeo province.
Early education projects have a positive effect on the local community and set the girls up with skills to prepare them for primary school and beyond, demonstrating that girls can succeed at school and have opportunities beyond traditional gender roles.
The Winter Gala dress is Cocktail and booking fee includes canapes from the Red Spice Road Kitchen and drinks (Beer, Wine, Soft Drink). So if you feel like having a unique and fun night out while supporting this great project, get some friends together and head to Intrepids Winter Gala, from 8pm Saturday the 27th July at The Orchid Room, QV.
