Access Community Services invites women and men to join them at their International Women's Day (IWD) 2018 Lunch - for FREE. Go along on Thursday 8th March (which is International Women's Day) to the Logan West Community Centre at 2 Wineglass Drive, Hillcrest. You will share a meal in the company of remarkable women whose stories of resilience and strength will inspire and encourage you.
The lunch runs from 11:30am to 1:30pm and includes the chance to meet with some leading women's groups who are supporting and creating opportunities for local women (and girls). A highlight of the afternoon is the presentation of the "Queensland Women in Leadership Awards" for 2018.
These awards are to recognise outstanding Queensland women who have displayed leadership qualities to create extraordinary outcomes and made a difference. They honour women who have gone above and beyond their normal duties to inspire individuals and even whole communities to create positive change. Do you know of any women who have employed their innovation and creativity to fulfil their ideas and inspire other women to tap into their own potential? These are often the unsung heroes who are doing astonishing things on a large scale and/or at the grass-roots level.
What is Access Community Services? Access has a deep conviction in the role that empowered women play in healthy communities and societies which runs through the fabric of everything they do. They honour and celebrate the exceptional achievements of women from refugee and migrant backgrounds,

I attended this special IWD event a couple of years ago and I was both humbled and inspired. The generosity and warmth of the women present was palpable and some friendships formed then have endured. As well as the presentation of awards, there were numerous entertainers. The international food was superb and plentiful and I'm sure it will be just as delish this year. Although this event is a celebration of women and their achievements, of course, men will be made very welcome.
