The Watercolour Society of Western Australia is excited to present its 2nd International Watercolour Exhibition in the historic Moores Building from 11 to 26 June 2022.

Top watercolourists from 15 nations will be exhibiting their work for two weeks and they will not be behind glass - so you can get up close and personal, see the brush strokes and flow of paint and marvel at the different styles and techniques!

Highlights include

  • 55 paintings from the Watercolour Society of WA

  • 92 paintings from International and Australian Watercolour Societies including Belgium, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Vietnam, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales

There will be many different styles showcased, from the soft and gentle, bold and vibrant and sweeping landscapes to magical portraits, energetic abstracts, still life and more! Most paintings will be for sale and may be purchased unframed or framed.

There will also be paintings from 6 invited top Australian guest artists, including leading Australian and globally acclaimed artist, Joseph Zbukvic, who will hold 6 workshops during the first week. Lisa Wang, one of Australia's brightest young stars, will also hold a 3-day Masterclass workshop.

You can also join a free workshop provided by Winsor & Newton and members of the Watercolour Society of WA will also hold instructive workshops throughout the two weeks.

A Plein Air competition will be held on Saturday 11th June throughout Fremantle - you just need to paint with watercolours to take part! See the website for details. The First Prize is $2000 (acquisitive) and the Second Prize is $1000 (acquisitive), plus there will be many other prizes donated by local sponsors. The competition will be judged by Joseph Zbukvic and Lisa Wang. Full details are here.
