Two and a half years ago I came to Munich to learn, or to run for my bachelor degree.

My first impression was:

  • It was very clean;
  • It was safe with a lot of police and English is widely spoken;
  • The U-Bahn is huge;
  • Burnt sugar almonds are delicious;
  • In summer it's good to just lay down on the green grass beside the Isar river.
  • Karlsplatz - Marienplatz - Odeonsplatz offer beautiful views.

  • But as a student, what I love most about living in Munich are:

  • There are so many international friends you could find and meet, as Munich is a very attractive city in Germany with universities and job opportunities.

  • The city is very quiet (which I actually hate) but it helps me to concentrate, which in the end will help improve one's grades. And it helps me to save some money as well!

  • The public library creates an atmosphere to help me to concentrate, equipped with resources and heater during winter and most importantly, an air-conditioner during summer.

  • I love music and arts and Munich is a popular destination for concerts, orchestras, and any interesting events that I usually find in the Münchner Volkshochschule or random posters on the streets.

  • In my free time I used to walk along the Schellingsstrasse and look at all the artists stores and English bookstores.

  • I love the supermarkets! They are huge with a lot of fresh and healthy products available and to choose from, and not so many people! I always can't wait to do my groceries on Friday.

  • Travel! I hopped on to a DB train and in two hours I arrived in Salzburg, Austria; six hours to Paris with beautiful views along the German and French border; cycling to the Neuschwanstein; and four hours drive to Prague.

  • So for now, my current impression is, I need to find anything (courses or job or internship) to extend my visa to be able to live here for at least another year after I graduate.

    Thank you Munich!
