On Sunday 27th of April, 2014, Perth is hosting its very first
International Great Waiters Race event. This unique event takes place in over 50 countries and originated on streets of Paris at the beginning of the 20th century.
The free event will see waiters from all over Perth race around Claisebrook Cove in East Perth, holding only their waiter's tray filled with a bottle of wine and glasses.
It is a test of skill, endurance and speed as each waiter will try and out pace each other, with 1st Place awarded a $2,500 travel voucher and 2nd Place a brand new Limited Edition Oris watch courtesy of Watches of Switzerland.
Proudly organised by
Rotary Club of West Perth , this anticipated family-friendly event will also raise much needed funds for the McCusker Alzheimer's Research Foundation and the Western Australian Neuroscience Research Institute.
Complementing the race will be the bustling gourmet food village showcasing the finest produce from restaurants all over Perth and there will also be an exciting
Helicopter Golf Ball Drop , which will see thousands of golf balls dropped over a specially prepared golf green in Victoria Gardens. The ball that finishes either in the hole, or closest to the hole will win 1st prize.
Come down with the family this Sunday and watch the frenzy of the waiters competing whilst sampling something special to eat in the gourmet food village or watching the helicopter drop take place.
It is sure to be a lot of fun for all who attend!
