Valentine's Day is just around the corner so it is time to show you care and get your special lady, or gent, something they will use and love, and adore you even more for. I suggest a gift voucher for a massage or a facial as everyone deserves, and appreciates, some time out and a little pampering.
For Christmas I was lucky enough, and very grateful, to receive a gift certificate for a facial at inSKIN Skin Care & Laser Therapy. I wasted no time calling to book my treatment. The phone conversation that followed was friendly and efficient and I was pleasantly surprised to be able to secure an appointment later that day, even though it is the busy season in the beauty industry.
inSKIN have salons situated at Blackwood and Morphett Vale that both specialise in advanced skin care and laser therapy and are open Monday to Saturday with extended trading hours on Thursday. For the sake of convenience, I chose to claim my voucher at the Morphett Vale salon which is located at the Southgate Plaza shopping precinct.
The salons use professional grade products such as Algologie, Fleur de Mer and Heritage Healers to achieve outstanding results. They offer body treatments like massage, scrubs, wraps and Endermologie. Also available are beauty "essentials" such as waxing, tinting, lash extenstions, make up and spray tanning. You can arrange a consultation to discuss the need for intensive treatments such as fillers, injections, photo rejuvenation and permanent hair reduction.
But for now, I'll stick with my Wildflower Facial. I was welcomed into the salon, asked to complete the requisite paperwork and advised that it had been a busy day and they were running slightly behind schedule. That was fine with me as I was happy to sit, listen to the calming music and admire the goodies surrounding me. The reception area is clean and comfortable with product displays and a range of bath bombs, candles and oil melts that fill the area with a wonderful aroma.
When it was time for my facial, I was escorted to the treatment room by my therapist who seemed caring and professional. Once settled and snug as a bug on the treatment table, a few drops of wildflower essences were placed under my tongue to balance my body from the inside out and to ensure my skin was as a receptive as possible to the treatment. This was strange at first but I can now appreciate the holistic approach to skin care.
The treatment that followed was as relaxing as it was therapeutic and I teetered on the edge of slumber for the duration of the forty five minute session. Initially the technique felt a little heavy-handed and the exfoliant scratchier than I would prefer but with no adverse reaction from my sensitive skin, I relinquished control and felt comfortable in the hands of an expert.
After the treatment, I was invited to sit in the reception area and sip on a glass of water. There was no rush to finish up and leave, and no hard sell either, which was appreciated. I entered the salon feeling exhausted with skin that was irritated and dehydrated from an excess of summer sun, late nights and sweet treats. Leaving inSKIN however, I felt refreshed and my skin smooth, soft and supple. The remnants of the festive season cleansed, exfoliated and massaged away and ready to face the new year.
