These winter school holidays INSIDE the BRICK is bringing their fantastic travelling Interactive Play & LEGO Fan Expo to the City of Melbourne!
On the weekend of the 25th & 26th June 2016, the historic Melbourne Meat Market will play host to INSIDE the BRICK's Interactive Play & LEGO Fan Expo.
INSIDE the BRICK was founded in 2012 by Rob Deakin, a life long LEGO fan, expert brick builder and qualified LEGO Serious Play leader. The company was created specifically to meet the needs of children at risk of social isolation, particularly those impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Rob studied the use of construction play as a way to bring people together and build connected communities for young and old alike. He was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2013 for his program to develop a national movement to help Autistic kids through establishing Brick Clubs® in local communities. During the fellowship he travelled to Europe and North America to meet with the LEGO Foundation's Learning Institute and many world experts in the use of construction play to help children with Autism.
The INSIDE the BRICK Studio is located in Fairfield, Melbourne and several Brick Club sessions are held each week with 50% of profits going towards helping establish construction clubs in local communities.
This year's Interactive Play & LEGO Fan Expo is even more interactive than ever before, with more play, regular build challenges and other fun activities for kids of all ages.
Over the two fun-filled days, visitors will have the opportunity to see fantastic original LEGO creations on display created by talented members of the INSIDE the BRICK Club.
In addition to this major model showcase, event-goers will be invited to enjoy the interactive construction play zones, which will have more bricks and hands-on activities. In this inspiring and creative space, visitors can build their favourite Minion, create a Minecraft world, or join the white LEGO Architectural challenge!
The always popular racing ramps are back as well - so come and test your LEGO vehicles or build some cargo for the trains to carry.
For the smaller builders there will be a Duplo construction zone!
INSIDE the BRICK is also proud to offer the option of a Sensory Friendly Session to families impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Sunday 9am entry time during our LEGO Fan Expo is Sensory Friendly, providing a supportive environment with low volume music and announcements, and reduced visitor numbers. (Please note that numbers and noise will steadily increase from 10am)
The expo has staggered entry sessions to avoid over-crowding in the venue and to give everyone a chance to see the displays. Sessions start every hour and once inside you can stay and play as long as you wish.
Tickets are on sale online at a discounted price through Trybooking. Tickets are priced as follows:
