Here is an exciting opportunity for you to get in on the ground floor as a major development is set to start-up on the Gold Coast. It is hoped next March will see the commencement of work on a casino and residential project at The Spit at Southport on the Gold Coast.

The French Embassy has put its support behind a project being undertaken by Griffith University's architecture students to develop new proposals for the existing casino site and identify and discuss community priorities as well as the architect's role in its development.

Alliance Française de Brisbane is proud to present Innovation in Architecture: Gold Coast Casino as an evening of presentations and short movies outlining the exciting proposals put forward by the Griffith University's architectural students in response to this challenge. During the evening the winning proposal will be will be awarded a flight to France by the French Embassy to further his or her studies.

The presentations are to be made at Alliance Française de BrisbaneYour text goes here, 262 Montague Road, West End commencing at 6.30pm on Monday, 5 December, 2016.

Your ticket for the evening, which includes a glass of fine French wine and finger food, can be purchased online. Select the link below that applies to you and follow the instructions:
  • $10 for Alliance Française Members ; and
  • $15 for non-members .

  • Come along and hear the thinking behind what the architecture students have formed and how they answer questions that arise, such as:
  • Do we want to attract game-addiction visitors?
  • Do we want even more visitors?

  • To deal with these serious issues the programme for the night will consist of:

    * 6.30 to 7.15pm: Oral presentations:
    Griffith Architecture A/Professor Karine Dupré will present the current situation of the Gold Coast casino's proposal followed by three students, Marko Trifungic, Verity Nunan and Sobi Slingsby who will then present their alternative project proposals;

    * 7.15pm to 7.30pm: Q&A:
    Join in the discussion with the presenters; and

    *** 7.30pm: French Embassy Award presentation
