Drop by for some great eats at cost-friendly prices
It may be hard to believe, but one of the best places offering budget-friendly foods in the Big Apple happens to be located in the midtown area. If you're in the neighborhood, and it's time for some eats, drop by ING Direct Café at 968 Third Avenue (corner of 58th Street).

ING Direct Café at 968 Third Avenue offers good and cost-friendly eats.

From the sidewalk, the eye-catching trademark orange ball and colors are enough to invite visits from pedestrians who may be intrigued that the online bank actually has a traditional building.

Of course, as everyone finds out once they're inside, no actual bank transactions take place at the cafe. Patrons get to enjoy some cost-saving benefits, though.

The trademark orange color catches the eye.

A blast of white- and orange-hued walls, stairs and furniture greet customers eager to sample the fare.

White shelves against orange walls hold retail merchandise.

Grab one of the tables on the first or second floor.

Peruse through the overhead menu, filled with tasty choices that are priced to keep you satisfied, and with more money in your wallet. Urban dwellers and tourists may be surprised that the great prices apply to items in regular-sized portions.

As the menu says, saving never tasted so good.

Invest in a reusable ING Direct mug and save even more money on your coffee.

Among your range of options are bottles of water, which can go for much more than a buck at most sidewalk vendors. The cafe also offers patrons strong freshly brewed hot or cold Peet's brand coffee or tea, comparable in taste to competing chain purveyors, but carrying a less costly price tag.

A variety of standard-sized portions.

Complement your chosen beverage with some baked goods, such as these cookies, muffins, scones or biscotti.

Which of these baked goodies shall you try?

Or, how about some biscotti?

If you're there for lunch, you've got lots of choices, such as ready-made salads, sushi and sandwiches.

To-go lunch options ready to be eaten within the café, or back at the office.

Ready to go out again? Take your cookie and Frio with you as you continue your stroll along the big city.

A big chocolate chip cookie for a fraction of the cost elsewhere.

Order their Frio for a refreshing and cool beverage.

Since you saved so much money at ING Direct Cafe, you may find yourself walking outside in brighter spirits, all set for more exploring (or shopping). Should you be back in the area again, by all means stop by and have more fare. After all, the venue offers some of the best deals in Manhattan.
