New to Canberra, I love exploring this city and the secrets that it holds with my family.
Bigger & better at the National Convention Centre
The Indulge Coffee and Chocolate Expo will be held at the National Convention Centre for one day only, on July 23rd. This is the second time this event has been held, with last years Expo held at the Old Bus Depot Markets location. Last year organisers were completely overwhelmed by the response to this event, with most of the stalls sold out by lunchtime and the taste tests they advertised - were all tasted and gone. Chocolate lovers who arrived in the afternoon and paid their entry fee (including myself) left soon after, disappointed the event didn't live up to expectations. According to their Facebook page however, they have accepted the negative feedback, taken the criticism on the chin and vowed to be better prepared in 2016.
Stallholders will be stocked up for the large crowds that are expected and organisers have changed location to the National Convention Centre, a warm place to wander around checking out the stalls of coffee and chocolate connoisseurs. With so much potential in the event (who doesn't love a coffee & chocolate combo on a chilly Canberra day?), this Expo has all the positive signs of a successful event for 2016.
The most popular ice cream expert and dessert master in Canberra, Frugii, will be at the Indulge Coffee and Chocolate Expo, showcasing unique flavours that only Mr Frugii (aka John Marshall) can create. This is the ice-cream alchemist who creates Butter Chicken ice-cream for the Curry Festival, Laksa ice-cream for the Multicultural Festival, Truffle ice-cream for the current Truffle Festival as well as Hot Cross Bun, Anzac biscuit and Guinness ice-cream for other events across the city. What will amazing flavours will Mr Frugii have in store for the Indulge Coffee & Chocolate Festival?
For something a little fancy, check out Enigma Fine Chocolates for hand crafted chocolates, almost too good to eat. Mr Scroll will be back with a huge range of tasty scrolls to choose from, with a bigger supply so there will be enough for all. Another popular stall who sold out quickly were Practically Perfect Portions - Cakes in a Jar. This small business from Conder in Tuggeranong will be displaying the delectable and gooey cakes in - you guessed it - a jar. With flavours such as Black Forest, Red Velvet, Banoffee, Salted Caramel, Nutella Cheesecake and these tempting jars of pure goodness below - Mint Aero Cheesecake.

Morish Morsels will have their specialty chocolate brownies and Chocolab will be back so you can create your own blocks of fine chocolate with your own personal decoration. RicoCoco's Chocolate Tea will also be at the expo, made from the shell of the Cacao Bean and smells and tastes like chocolate without the calories. Babic Biscuits makes old fashioned chunky biscuits just like your grandma made, perfect to munch on as you walk around. If you are a salted caramel fan, check out the melt-in-your mouth salted caramel frogs at the stall for It's A Sweet Life.
For a full list of coffee and chocolate exhibitors, check the Indulge Coffee & Chocolate Expo Facebook and website for details. Also check the Program closer to the date for details of the day.
