This lovely little community orchestra comes together every week to practice orchestral music and The Indooroopilly Chamber Orchestra perform around Brisbane for the public throughout the year. It is a great and affordable way to hear great classical music and share the players' love for this type of music.



About the Indooroopilly Chamber Orchestra

Starting as an informal gathering of musicians in a person's home in Indooroopilly, now they are based in Chelmer but have maintained their original name. It has grown into a community orchestra that it is today. Currently, the youngest member is 21 and the oldest is 85. Many members are graduates of music school while others have come to play classical music later in life. They don't audition people to join for the practice as they just want people to come and enjoy playing together.



Performances

For 2023 there are 3 upcoming Sunday concerts, which include
18 June featuring Faure, Schumann and Sullivan.
10 September featuring Dvorak, Mozart and Schubert.
3 December which will feature some of the orchestral members' favourite orchestral highlights and vocal delights.

The concerts will be held at 1 pm at the Sherwood State School. Tickets are $20 if pre-purchased, $25 on the day, and children under 12 are free.



Play with the Indooroopilly Chamber Orchestra

The orchestra is always looking to expand and they are hoping to become a full symphony orchestra size in the future. So if you love playing classical music and have some talent, then get in contact with them through their website. They practice most Thursday evenings in Chelmer.



Overall

Normally seeing an orchestra in Brisbane is pretty expensive, so community orchestras like the Indooroopilly Chamber Orchestra are a good opportunity to see one for less and to share the love of classical music with others. Check them out during their concerts throughout the year or, if you are a player and into classical music, get involved as a player.
